November 8, 2003 - I moved the old Halifax West into the "Already Gone" category today.  Actually, its been gone for a couple of days and the task of cleaning up is underway.

September 24, 2003 - The original Halifax West High School is coming down.  After a period of work going on inside, demolition is now obvious on the outside. Below is information taken from the Halifax Regional Council Minutes of August 19, 2003, wherein the Tender for demolition of the old Halifax West is awarded:
  

MOVED by Councillor Walker, seconded by Councillor Whalen, that Council award Tender 03-154 Halifax West High School Demolition to Dexter Construction Limited for a cost of $710,517.50, plus net HST for a total of $756,196.67 to be funded from the Sale of Land Capital Reserve (Q101) as per the Budget Implications section of the staff report dated July 22, 2003.

May 30, 2004 - I wish I had some advance notice...last week the gas station next to the old Halifax West was torn down (see picture above).  I only had the opportunity to take a picture of the gaping hole that's left.
